Reducing Authoring Costs of Online Training in Microelectronics Design by Reusing Design Documentation Content

چکیده
The authoring of online educational material for microelectronics design is costly and requires expertise that the educators may not have. In this paper, we address this issue – more specifically the case of online training – and propose a technique to reduce authoring costs by reusing the documentation content from a design database. An extension for the design database model is presented, in order to comply to the LOM standard for learning objects, and a case study using a course creation tool is reported.

eBook Authoring System concept design and development
This paper presents the design and development of an authoring system for creating and building an application program for an eBook package, or an eBook portfolio, that would include metadata, meta-content, and other related materials and resources that are stored in a dedicated database. This system is basically a digitization process of the different phases of eBook authoring and development,...

Introduction: Using standard authoring tools is essential to promote E-Learning in teaching-learning process. Learning content in medical sciences often consists of multimedia elements. On the other hand, it is frequently required to revise and update the medical content. Hence, access to the authoring tools that can encompass multimedia elements and allow easy content revision is helpful in e-...
متن کاملDynamic (Re)Generation of Software Documentation
We are developing an authoring tool called I-Doc that will automate the process of generating documentation and user help for software systems. The focus of the tool is on capture of the requirements and design decisions that form the content of software documentation. This information can then be used to generate summaries and explanations of the software on demand. The objective of this resea...
متن کاملIntroduction to the Darwin Information Typing
The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) is an XML-based, end-to-end architecture for authoring, producing, and delivering technical information. This architecture consists of a set of design principles for creating "information-typed" modules at a topic level and for using that content in delivery modes such as online help and product support portals on the Web. This document is a roa...
متن کاملA Three-part Framework for Information Design
This is an exciting time for technical communicators. We’re moving from a focus on the tools used to produce content, like help authoring tools and desktop publishing programs, to a focus on the content itself (Carliner 2000). According to JoAnn Hackos (2000), sponsors of our work now expect us to add value through innovative approaches to information because we have already achieved the cost s...
